Thanks for an Amazing trip in Socotra... It is truly one of the rare places in this world that still is so different and magic!
Mohammed did a great job making sure we could see as much as possible in the limited time we had... He was fun and always made sure we were as comfortable as we could be! We will be back hopefully!

Can I ask you how you traveled to come to Socotra? Was it a safe journey? We are thinking of bringing our two kids 4 and 6 years; is that advisable?

I m sorry for late reply. Coming to Socotra is somewhat easy.. coming via Sharja , UAE, is good with Felix airlines just in case you dont need visa for UAE.. or else through Sanaa Yemen capital , with Felix or Yemeniya flights..
It is very safe for children and you would have fun , no doubt there, however do consider that it is a camping trip, no regular hotels with all the facilities...
There is lot of info on trips advisor but I m also available for questions :)

In November 2012 we had a very enjoyable tour of 15 days on Socotra.
We wanted to visit Socotra because of its very special flora.
Really unique in the world!

How did we get to Socotra?
Because of political unrest in Sanaa we flew first to Dubai. Then by taxi to Sharjah and stayed the night in the airport hotel. (very cheap and good)
The next day we flew with Felix Airways from Sharjah to Soccotra with a stop of 45 minutes in Mukalla.
(unfortunately we could not land on Socotra due to bad weather, so we stayed two nights on a beach resort near Mukalla. All arranged and paid by Felix Airways, so a very good service!)
All our Felix tickets have been arranged by Socotra-Eco-Tours.

Service
From the first till the last minute we had our own English speaking guide who knew also the flora very well. Our driver was excellent and very careful.
We stayed in a reasonable hotel in Hadibu all the time from here we made all our day trips over the island.
In all it was an excellent trip with so many special places we visited and so many rare and endemic plants we saw.
Socotri people are very friendly and you are feeling welcome.
Due to the excellent and flexible way of Soutra-Eco-Tours this was a trip of a life time.
This was a kind of an inspection tour, but we are 100% sure that we will bring a group of plant lovers to this remarkable island in the near future.
